  1. Eat on smaller plates – Remember when you were a kid and your mother told you to eat everything on your plate?  If you’re like me and feel guilty about leaving food behind, just use a smaller plate.  A dessert or cake plate works great.
  2. Brush your teeth.  This little trick is commonly called the toothpaste diet.  Brush your teeth with strong mint toothpaste when you’re having a craving.  The minty freshness will curb your appetite.  Your waistline (and your dentist) will thank you.
  3. Play with your food – When you’re 1/2 of the way through your meal at a restaurant, stick the handle of your utensil in your food.  You won’t want to pick up the dirty utensil to eat more.
  4. Put a picture of a bikini model on your fridge.  Every time you have the urge to snack on something unhealthy, you’ll look at her and remember why you don’t want to.
  5. Wear clothes that are too small.  Tight pants make you uncomfortable, and are a constant reminder of why you’re dieting in the first place.  Wear them as much as possible.  Not only will they constrict your tummy so you eat less, you’ll feel even better when they start to get loose!
  6. Play video games.  Thanks to modern technology, there are lots of video games for Wii and Xbox Kinect that will get your heart pumping.  Spend some time playing them and burn calories without thinking about it.
  7. Go shopping – Walk the mall a few times while hunting for bargains.  Just don’t stop at the food court!
  8. Watch TV.  Do you have a favorite show?  Sit down and enjoy it.  See how many jumping jacks or pushups you can do during commercials.
  9. Go blue.  The color blue has been proven to make you less hungry.  Use blue plates, a blue tablecloth, even blue food coloring.
  10. Be a baby – Follow your kids around and do what they do for a day.  Run where they run, eat what they eat.  The energy used and calories burned will amaze you!
