Like many other people I used to play a farming simulator on Facebook. I could not get enough of it. I was good at it. My son always wanted to help. He wanted to plow the plots and plant. What he liked the best though was the store. He loves money in real life so I am not surprised. That is why I was sure that he would love to play a game of his own without me having to let him on the computer all the time. Farming Simulator is enriched with outstanding content and many new features, challenging you to take on the role of a modern day farmer. It has real life equipment from 20 different manufacturers, has a complete career mode, an expanded map, and more crops to choose from. We got a Xbox 360 copy but Farming Simulator is also available for the Playstation 3, PCs and Macs, Nintendo 3DS, Playstation Vita, and on mobile devices and tablets.
I played before I let my son play and it did take me a minute to get used to the controls but it got easier. The tutorial was not pushy. It tells the basic steps and then leaves you alone to win or lose at farming. I like that in a game. I want to know I am in control of my fate in the game. It's up to you to manage and grow your own farm in a huge, totally new world. As you progress in your career and complete different missions, you'll control more than a hundred farming vehicles and machines faithfully recreated from the biggest names in the industry: Case IH, Deutz-Fahr, Lamborghini, Same, Horsch and newcomer Grimme. I finally turned the game over to my son after an eternity of me crying at my bad loan decisions. He immediately did the same thing I did and decided to just roll with and worry about acquiring as many pieces of machinery as he could.
Farming Simulator lets you really play the part. You get to take part in animal husbandry, growing and harvesting crops, and the money aspect of owning a farm. I like how it teaches that you dont just get something for nothing. You have to borrow money to get tools to make money. Farming Simulator has an ESRB rating of E, for everyone. This game is appropriate for anyone who is old enough to know how to use the controls. My 11 year old likes playing and I like playing it. It is a healthy change from all the violent games out there. It also has some amazing graphics. It gives you a sense of fulfillment when you watch your crops grow and if you arent into that, well, then you can just drive heavy machinery around and look cool.
