We have been talking a lot about my cats lately. Lets swing back over to the dogs. You know I love my dog just as much as my kitties and I know Amy loves her dogs as well. The summer months mean more time outside for animals. I know that my dogs want to be outside as much as possible which is so weird to me since it is so hot outside. It also means that it is time for check ups at the vet for many animals. I recently wrote about a great flea and tick control product, BRAVECTO® (Fluralaner) and how it covers long term flea and tick control. I wanted to take a minute and talk about what kind of questions you need to ask your vet about flea and tick control.
One of the first questions should be what is new in flea and tick control. You may have a great product that you love but could there be a better one on the market? Advances are made all the time and we want our pets to have the best. Whether that be a cushy pet bed that they choose not to sleep on in favor of an old tshirt of your husbands or a tasty chewable extended duration flea and tick control like BRAVECTO. Some people prefer their pets to be indoors only and they may need different kinds of foods and different types of products. You may ask your vet if your dogs need a prescription medicine or an over the counter medicine. They are equipped to talk about the differences. I am sure many of us have had to hide their dog's medicine in cheese or meat before. I know I cant be the only one. My little lady may be small but she can be like a bucking bronco when it comes to administering her medicine. That is why I prefer a flea and tick medicine that is tasty and chewable like BRAVECTO. Talk to your vet about how each product is administered. You may think you are getting something easy only to find out you have to get a syringe full of product into the mouth of a scared, over excited doggy.
You should always ask your vet about side effects and how often your flea and tick product needs to be administered. You should always let your vet know about the different ages and weights of your animals as well. Some products are not recommended for animals younger than 6 months. BRAVECTO is prescribed based on weight so it is hard to judge on puppies because their weight changes so much as they grow. Your vet should be able to answer all the questions you have. You should definitely ask your vet about BRAVECTO and how it is a long term, tasty chew, flea and tick control. You can find out more on the BRAVECTO website! You can also check out their mobile app.
